Daytime Smokey Eyes: Choose Taupe
Although smokey eyes are considered a night affair, I love wearing them at daytime. Of course, the day version should be softer and lighter than the evening one.
A great colour to use for such neutral smokey eye makeup is taupe. Taupe is the mysterious colour between brown and grey. It looks shy and unassuming, till you apply it. Then it reveals its loveliness. Why taupe? Firstly, it enhances ALL eye colours. Secondly, it is "happier" than grey. Thirdly, it is lighter and less ordinary than brown.
Ok, so the eyeshadow is taupe. What about the eyepencil? Although black would do just fine, for a subtle daytime look I would advise a dark brown eyepencil. It would nicely define the area closest to the eye without looking harsh.
Finish off with a highlighter in all the right places and mascara. Since taupe is such an understated and elegant colour something vibrant on cheeks and lips would really lift the look. Maybe the delicious corals that are so hot this season?
